Calling All Creative Gurus!

(Yes, that’s you!)

We’d love to share the projects you’ve made with our downloads to inspire our users…and give you the credit. After all…we’ve noticed that it’s after you add your creative touch to our designs, that they really start to sing!

We’d love to see what you are creating with our SVG cutting files, whether you use a Cricut, Silhouette, Pazzles, or any other personal electronic cutting machine. We know that you have creative flair, and our users will appreciate seeing what others are doing to inspire them. If you are using our printables, digital stamps, or sewing patterns in a unique way, we want to see that too! We’ll be adding more to those sections of the store very soon.

We’ve made it super easy to share your projects with our NEW project uploads section. When you are logged in to digiplayground.com, the upload interface will appear below any product image on it’s details page. Just scroll down a bit…you’ll see it–if you don’t…simply log in, then it will appear.

Make sure you upload your project photos to the correct products, because this is also where your photos will appear. When people shop for those designs, they will also see all the projects uploaded by our digiplayground.com community members.  This will be a great way for our users to inspire each other. Your name (if you wish) will also be posted with your project, to make sure you get the credit.

This is what the interface looks like:

Please note: this form is not active here, you’ll need to click on a product listing to use the form.

It’s easy to use, so share as often as you’d like–we won’t limit you.

You can even take pictures with your phone then upload them. Make sure your lighting is good so we can see your beautiful creations. Complete rules can be found in the link in the project upload interface. Can’t wait to see what you create, I know our community here will be excited to see your projects too!

So…What is the “Surprise Me” button?

Surprise me button sm

So whatever you do…

don’t push that button!

You don’t want to know what will happen.

It could cause a site meltdown.

(I know…you guys are all too smart to be gullible like that…

but it certainly does make for a dramatic opener to a blogpost. Right?)

So, just in case you have ever wondered what the “Surprise Me” button does on the digiplayground.com home page, let me tell you….

This was a fun little idea that I had to help you navigate the site in a completely different way; AND it’s totally awesome! (yes, I was a teen in the 80’s and old habits don’t die easy. Might as well say, “this button is so rad” too.)

Alright-y then…moving on…

Sometimes when I shop, I don’t have a clue what I’m after, and I don’t always have time to look at everything. However, I still want to get a sampling of what is available, without necessarily having to go through all the categories. Now don’t get me wrong, categories are great and totally useful, we need those for sure! But, sometimes, I just want to see a random sampling of what might be available; and I want someone else to put that sampling in front of me. You know how it goes, you go to a restaurant, they hand you a menu the size of a book, and ask what you want to order. It can be a little overwhelming. Instead of looking through the menu, pouring over whether you want one of their pastas, burgers, or a selection from their ethnic offerings; you ask your server, “what are your favorites?” Now you have three choices instead of 500 (if you ever been to the Cheesecake Factory…then you know what one of these kind of menus look like.)

That’s where the “Surprise Me” button comes in, and that’s exactly what it does.

The “Surprise me” button takes a random sample of all the products in the store, and in a simple click of a button, it generates a page of random products for you to view. Click the button again, and another random selection comes up. You can click as many times as you like, and not get the same combination of products to view twice.

Cool, huh!

Try it, it’s fun!

Just click on the link below, or find the button on the home page.

Now, If you have and crafty friends, that like silly gimmicky stuff…like buttons that you are told not to click, tell them to go click the “surprise me” button, and see what happens.

Enjoy!

Cricut Explore DS Software Compatibility

cricut explore

(Please see average conversion return times at the bottom as they are updated with our schedules.)

First off, thank you to all of you who have visited our new store, and made us feel so welcome on the big world wide web! It has been fun seeing the store go live so we can offer you our designs. You have really been wonderful to us, and we hope that we can reciprocate and be good to you.

We want to make sure that Cricut Explore users know that we are aware of your needs with the Design Space software, and we have a great program for you to make sure that you are able to use all of our files. Our SVG files are compatible with most cutting machines, but the Cricut Explore is a little different. You can read which cutting software work best with our SVG cutting files on this page.

We are pleased to announce that all of our new files (December 2014 and newer) are user-friendly with the Cricut Explore Design Space software, and a good number of our original files have been updated to include a DS user friendly version of our SVG files. While not all have been updated, you’ll still find that some of our older basic SVG designs will work just fine with the Cricut DS software–but are not in color yet (we can fix that for you–and anyone else who prefers working with color coded SVG files.) Our older 3D SVG files will definitely need to be updated to be user friendly for this particular software. That’s because you Cricut Explore users have the ability to score. Sweet for you…but that means a conversion for us if you don’t want a bunch of dotted lines in their own little layer.

At your request, we would be happy to update any of our SVG files with user friendly versions for Cricut Explore Design Space users free of charge. Please don’t be shy in asking, we want you to be able to use our files, and it helps us in getting all of our files updated for other Explore users. Simply use our contact form and put “DS Conversion” in the subject line, then send us your request with original order # and which files need conversions–if you’ve lost that info, we can look up your name, and find your orders on our end. As we do these requests, we will also add the new DS friendly version to the corresponding design in the store and update it so other Cricut DS users can purchase the file.

Please be patient with us as conversions will take a little bit of time, but we are relatively quick. We hope to turn around conversions in 24 to 72 hours depending upon how many requests come in at a time. We have been returning most DS user friendly SVG versions within 24 hours on weekdays. That time frame is subject to change if we get a large back log, but so far, we have been keeping up and have several design updated in our store. We will keep you updated on time frames on this blogpost. (see update below)

Now if you haven’t used one of our DS user friendly SVG’s before, we highly recommend that you read this tutorial on our blog that shows you how to use our Cricut Explore user friendly SVG files. Click here to see more! These instructions will help you understand layers, changing lines to score lines, and clipping layers together so that they cut on the same mat.

We are excited to be offering all our files to cricut explore users–whether that be through fast conversions, or DS user friendly SVG designs already included in the download. We are thrilled to be serving you, and all others who prefer working with color coded versions of our SVG files!

Thanks again for choosing digiplayground.com for your SVG cutting files!

–Samantha Walker

***Update*** Our conversions will be processing a little slower over Spring break April 4th-April 12th, and will return back to our regular quick turn-around April 13th.

Please know that ALL of our new files already contain DS SVG conversions–just look for DS in the file name in your downloaded folder. If you see these symbols below in the product listing, that means they are compatible with these cutters and software.
